Description
Commissioned fantasy painting of home coming love, fulfilment and completion of a circle of peace and restoration. The centre has an embracing ,glowing couple which is a homage to gustav Klimt's "The Kiss " one of Klimt's most famous paintings and forms part of his so-called golden period .
One of the reasons for the popularity of this picture by Klimt is the use of gold which is bound up with magical and religious connotations as with the idea of prosperity and material wealth.
In this painting also the two floating lovers are lost in their own world, removed into a sphere of everlasting happiness in a dimension which is otherworldly.
This painting incorporates many symbolic elements including peacock feathers, fire, water, moon and stars, night, a boat and fish, pomegranates, gold coins, treasure, pearls, books, a mythological animal; the unicorn and a resting wolf.
In the distance we see a house and an encroaching forest fire. The moored boat has fish painted on the gunnel and hanging on the bow also representing prosperity.
