Description
This acrylic fantasy piece entitled " Serenading the Hedgehog " inspired by my interest in these strange mysterious little creatures .
The ancient Egyptians designated the hedgehog as a symbol of rebirth as hedgehogs retreat underground when food is scarce and reappear when food is available again. I admire their survival instincts - besides having efficient protective armour in their spines -they hibernate during the harsh winter and emerge to mate and raise new families during the milder weather of Spring Summer and Autumn.
In this painting, feathers symbolise floating notes of music..The animals are listening and waiting in late autumn moonlight to hear the musicians' soothing lullaby -its time to hibernate !

Pure magic! I'm envious of the hedgehog - I wish I could retreat underground when times get tough! I'm sure this is even more beautiful in person, for I can see that there's some wonderful depth to these colors, and great texture.
Trudi Doyle replied:
