Irish Landscape in Acrylic on canvas entitled "Wildlife,Clouds and Shadows on Eagle Hill" -
I feel honoured that this artwork is viewed daily by boys and girls in the entrance foyer in Hacketstown National School in Co.Carlow, Ireland. The painting has been hanging since Friday 21st June 2013 . I was comissioned to create a painting for the beautifully refurbished National school. It is my former school which I attended from the age of four through to twelve..
This piece includes just some of the indigenous Irish wildlife which I have seen on the slopes of Eagle hill over the years including a hare, a fox, an owl,a blackbird, a hedgehog, a snail and swallows.
The landscape, the constantly changing weather and Irish wildlife provided the inspiration. I have an intense attachment to this landscape near my birthplace. This hill is bounded by a laneway surrounded by fields and stone walls, wild rocky areas with blueberries known as frochins, blackberrries ,purple heather, foxgloves,furze bushes, ferns and hawthorn trees and crab apples.This was my childhood playground where I experienced the .passing seasons and learned about wildlife and the Irish flora and fauna at first hand,
