Description
In this painting - The women in the piece could be mother and daughter, two friends or possibly sisters.They listen to the song of the thrush,the blackbird and the owl and contemplate the whispers of intuition and wisdom they impart.
A 'Koan' in zen buddism is a story, question, dialogue or statement, the meaning of which cannot be understood by rational thinking but by intuition.
.Many myths have linked birds to the arrival of life or death - Birds were seen as carriers or symbols of the human soul, or as the soul itself.
For me in creating this piece something entered into the the act of painting which was beyond the grasp of my conscious mind -but this is quite often the casw when I paint - I go with the flow !
