Title
Still Life with Japanese Plate and Apple Blossom
Artist
Trudi Doyle
Medium
Painting - Watercolour
Description
This still life composition in watercolour was completed in Spring and was inspired by the simplicity and beauty of an apple blossom branch and a delicate hand painted plate.
I continued the oriental blossom theme with the willow pattern jug. I had found the beautiful Japanese plate at a bic a brac stall in a market some years before and had kept it in my collection of odd pieces of ceramics. (They are all waiting for the day when they will be immortalised in a painting !)
I completed the piece with a tea pot, hanging herbs, fruit, some colourful kitchen ware and a book on the kitchen shelf in front of a window. There.s a hint of lace curtain in the background and the dark blue of the window completes the composition.
