Acrylic on canvas of a rooster striding home from the beach.Iinspired by memories of a cottage I lived in by the beach on the beautiful Dingle peninsula, Co.Kerry on the south west coast of Ireland which is the furthest western point of Europe .On the Peninsula ,the sea is never more than a couple of miles away, rainbows abound and magic fills the air. The views are spectacular, the rugged lanscape is wild and windswept , the mountains are dramatic against an ever changing sky - an artists paradise !
The spectacular landscape of the Dingle Peninsula was made famous by the movie "Ryans Daughter " a 1970 film directed by David Lean.
It is the sheer majesty of the landscapes and panoramic vistas that attracted the film makers. The Oscar winning film, set in 1916, is a very loose adaptation of Gustave Flaubert's novel Madame Bovary.
I live in beautiful Ireland .I am inspired by mythology,memories, dreams, whimsical flights of fancy and by nature's beauty - with all it's related moods, My work is varied, sometimes abstract, often surreal.. like the background more than the rooster but without the rooster the picture doesn't work
