Artist's Description

This watercolour is a piece inspired by the poem
'Spring' by Gerard Manley Hopkins (
and the line ''Thrushs eggs look little low heavens"is a line once read or heard never to be forgotten.....)
Nothing is so beautiful as spring - ....
When weeds, in wheels, shoot long and lovely and lush;....
Thrush's eggs look little low heavens, and thrush....
Through the echoing timber does so rinse and wring....
The ear, it strikes like lightning to hear him sing "

Not all bird species build nests.
Primarily used for breeding, some species build special dormitory nests or roost nests (or winter-nest) that are used only for roosting
.Most birds build a new nest each year, though some refurbish their old nests. In some species the young from previous broods may also act as helpers for the adults.
