Description
The Hare Remembers -a watercolour painting with surreal elements . This painting features the Haroldstown Dolmen in the centre illuminated by the sun. Dolmens or Cromlechs were built between 6000 & 4000 years ago.The countryside of Ireland is dotted with thousands of these enigmatic and mysterious man made stone structures and ruins. Many reflect sun worship.. Just beneath it is a depiction of a running hare, the painting is completed with swirls in the foreground inspired by the prehistoric carvings in Newgrange, Donore, Co. Meath, n exceptionally grand passage tomb built during the Neolithic period, around 3200 BC ( making it older than Stonehenge and the Egyptian pyramids.)
This painting was created for exhibition at the 2016 Pan Celtic festival of culture in Carlow Ireland.
