Description
Pastel Painting of the road crossing the bridge which spans the river Dereen below the village of Hacketstown Co Carlow in the southeast of Ireland. The road winds it way past green pastures into the village on the crest of the hill..
I was born and spent my childhood in Hacketstown.
Interestingly the King of rock and roll Elvis Presley had Hacketstown connections. William Presley who lived near Eagle hill, Hacketstown ( as I did ) emigrated from Ireland to the United States back in 1775. He was involved in a feud in Hacketstown and decided he would be safer three thousand plus miles away across the Atlantic. William's descendant was none other than the King of Rock n Roll, himself, Elvis Presley.
