Description
"Sprtit of Winter" -Mixed Media Collage I chose a mixture of painting and collage with flecks of gold leaf for "Spirit of Winter" - an optimistic image -the white bird and mysterious woman symbolise the spirit of renewal which we experience each year in when Winter Solstice or midwinter arrives.
On that day with the shortest period of daylight and the longest night of the year many ancient cultures celebrated surviving the year gone by and the promise of renewal and hope for the future.
The painting has an intresting textured surface with lace, gold leaf and scraps of painted watercolour paper . .

A wonderful image, and I would love to see it in person, with the varied textures and glint of gold. It must be alive! I want her to visit here, for I'm sick of summer! Still in the 90s! In any case, your art calms and cools my soul.
Trudi Doyle replied:
Thank you for your lovely comment Daniel, I empathise with your discomfort as I too dislike extreme temperatures whether it is Summer heat or Winter cold - However despite that I can see and enjoy painting the beauty of all seasons ! I hope it cools down for you soon !
