Description
Watercolour of the entrance doorway in the period house of the historic Altamont Gardens near Tullow, County Carlow in Ireland featuring a typical decorative glass fanlight above the doorway
.The house and gardens were gifted to the Irish people /state by the owner, the wonderful Corona North on her death.
There are plans to restore the house, the beautiful exquisite wild woodlands and gardens are open to the public and well worth visiting. In its gardens are wild oak woodlands , river and lake walks and a collection of exotic trees and plants. The swathes of perennial flowers which fill the beds are a vision of beauty in the growing season and attracts many visitors .
In Spring the main attraction is the extensive collection of Snowdrop varieties.
