"Joan in the Dory Boat" (watercolour )
This painting dates from a time when I lived by the River Barrow in Ireland in Maganey Lock House ( a Lock house is a resicence for the person in charge of a canal or river lock)
While living there a good friend loaned me a Dory boat .A Dory is a small lightweight boat . used as traditional fishing boats in coastal waters and in the open sea. It was perfect for leisurly days spent on the river.
In this painting my sister Joan is relaxing and reading in the boat on a summers day.
I live in beautiful Ireland .I am inspired by mythology,memories, dreams, whimsical flights of fancy and by nature's beauty - with all it's related moods, My work is varied, sometimes abstract, often surreal..
