Description
The countryside of Ireland is dotted with thousands of ancient man made stone structures, many are enigmatic and mysterious such as Dolmens which were built between 6000 and 4000 years ago.
In this painting the winter sun rises over the Haroldstown Dolmen, County Carlow Ireland ..
Also featured - a beautifully carved Romanesque doorway in Killeshin Carlow dated 1150-1160 and a detail from the base of Moone High cross carved in stone in the 8th century, It features the 12 Apostles exquisitely carved in an interesting flat style on the base of the west side, below the crucifixion ,.The monastery here belonged to the federation of the monks of St Columba,
