Description
Acrylic of "Crann Bethadh" ( Irish for Tree of Life ). Trees are considered sacred in celtic myth - their roots stretch to the lower world and branches reach to the upper world, connecting with the power of both the heavens and the underworld.
Look closely at this image and find a secret. -let me know if you do !! .
Old ballads sing of those who have entered the otherworld by the door of a sacred tree.
'The hawthorn is sacred to the faeries. It was a superstition that if one interfered with such a tree -a fairy tree - then bad luck would follow because this was the home of the little people
'Beware, beware the hawthorn,
Lest it strike you down,
For if you take an axe to it
You'll rue that you were born.' (Hawthorn : Giles Watson: 2005)
