Watercolour semi abstract painting of Red Cherries and Sweet William on a reflective glass table
I came across a street vendor selling bunches of Sweet Williams when on a visit to Hungary . I had not seen these flowers for over 25 years - since my childhood when I had seen them in my grandfathers garden. I loved them and their sweet fragrance - a beautiful old fashioned fragrant flower .
The street trader was also selling plump red cherries.
I painted this semi abstract still life as soon as I got back to my apartment before all the delicious cherries were eaten - I used blues and white and the sunlit window reflected in the table top as a background to the vibrant reds of the flowers and fruit.
