Description
Watercolour painting of the deserted village of Perillos in Roussillon France. Perillos is an abandoned village in a beautiful but inhospitable landscape, its last inhabitants left in the middle of the 20th century during WW2. Locals told me that the water supply failed and the small number of inhabitants still living there ere forced to leave and never returned. There are restoration plans for the village which are slowly being put in place.
For a number of years I organised and tutored Painting Holidays in Opoul a village in Languedoc Roussillon in the south of France. I discovered this village in the hills nearby and have lovely memories of visiting and painting there.
I always brought my group to spend a day sketching and painting in and around this beautiful atmospheric place.
